Derma-Klear Akne Treatment Soap 3 Ounces

Helps with acne & keratosis pilaris5
I had been looking for a replacement for a different brand of sulfur soap (Grandpa’s Thylox), despite the fact that it works well, simply because no local stores carry it. I found this Derma-Klear sulfur soap at the co-op a few months ago, and it’s been great.

I use this soap only at night, for two reasons: its scent is *very* strong and lingers a bit; and the active ingredient concentration (5% sulfur) is higher than in most other sulfur soaps (3%), which I find dries out my skin if I use it more than once per day. I also find it to be drying on my hands (esp. knuckles) during the winter and must apply hand lotion afterwards.

I have also used this bar in the shower, and it has significantly improved the keratosis pilaris on my upper arms and started to eliminate body acne as well. The reason that sulfur soap knocks out early-forming blemishes and KP is that sulfur is a keratolytic, meaning it softens keratin. Keratin is a fibrous protein (the hard, waxy plug) that clogs pores, both in acne and KP.

This bar smells quite strongly of sulfur; so if that bothers you, you may want to opt for a different brand of sulfur soap (Grandpa’s Thylox is less odiferous but still packs a nice punch). If, like me, you’ve tried the gamut of acne products and don’t really care how it smells as long as it works, you likely won’t have a problem with it.

The last feature that I appreciate is this soap’s natural (and rather short) ingredient list. Besides sulfur, it contains only the following: Aloe Vera, Centella, Chamomile, 18-Beta-Glycyrrhetinic Acid, Hawthorn, Rosemary, Sage, and TetraSodium EDTA in a fragrance-free natural soap base. It’s far more natural than most other sulfur soap brands. As long as you don’t mind the smell, Derma-Klear’s sulfur soap can be a potent weapon in your arsenal against your body’s hyperkeratinization!

Love this soap!5
I used to have a problem with blemishes on a weekly and monthly basis. But, after being introduced to this soap, I hardly ever break out. I use it in the morning and then again before bedtime, followed by a coconut oil moisturizer. I love it!

Works Fast5
I purchased this yesterday and have used it twice. I do see improvement overnight! I tried another soap that had only 1% sulfur and it didnt work very well. It may begin to have some drying effects but so far it isnt. I think it depends on your skin. I also dont thinks it smells at all like the other review said. It seems to be a very good soap so far. I think the price is rather high but if you have acne 7.00 is worth it if it works!

Did The Philadelphia Experiment suck?

DVDThe Philadelphia Experiment

Did The Philadelphia Experiment suck?

The experiment that should never have happened 41 years ago…is still going on.

Philadelphia, 1943: A top-secret experiment is underway to make U.S. Navy ships invisible to enemy radar, but something goes horribly wrong, and the Battleship Eldridge disappears. Two sailors jump overboard…and are mysteriously transported 41 years into the future. On the run and trapped by the past, can they stop the experiment that has torn a hole in time?

Michael Pare (Eddie and the Cruisers) and Nancy Allen (Carrie, Dressed to Kill) star in this provocative sci-fi action hit, executive produced by Halloween creator John Carpenter!

Did The Philadelphia Experiment suck?

Customer Reviews:

An Experiment in Good Film Making4
THE PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT is a pretty good, solid piece of B-Movie sci fi. Loosely based on actual events during World War II, the U.S. government tests a naval battleship to see if it can disappear from radar by using high powered electromagentic energy. The writers, producer (John Carpenter i.e. HALLOWEEN), and director, have used these events to create an entertaining time travel story in which during the experiment, two of the crewmen are transported through time to 1984 and must find their way back. At the same time, the experiment in 1943 is affecting a similar experiment in 1984 Nevada conducted by the same scientist, Dr. James Longstreet, (Eric Christams as the elder Dr. Longstreet in 1984 Nevada, and Miles McNamara as the young Dr. Longstreet in 1943 Philadelphia) creating a vortex and distruption in the space/time continuim. There are characters you care about, decent if not conventional time travel plot devices, just the right amount of special effects, the usual government personnel chasing the innocent time travel victim(s), and a love story thrown in for good measure. Michael Pare shows some pretty good emotional depth as David Herdeg, one of the crewmen sent into the future and he and Nancy Allen as Allison Hayes have pretty good onscreen chemistry. Bobby Di Cicco has a great supporting role as the other crewmen sent along with Micheal Pare. He practically reprises a role he played in the Steven Speilberg WWII comedy film “1941″ as he uses the dancing skills he learned during the filming of that movie and uses it in the opening scenes of ‘EXPERIMENT (Perhaps it was an in-joke?). Overall, an entertaining sci fi, time travel film that delivers.
Movie should be noteworthy because released the same year he produced this movie, John Carpenter wrote and directed STARMAN with almost the same kind of pathos and romance/road trip film. Instead of a a man far from his time period (PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT), we have an extraterrestial far from home (STARMAN).

Terrific sci-fi adventure4
Because this film lacked real star power, not many people have caught this as they should have. Even non sci-fi fans will enjoy this one. No need for me to reiterate the plot. The story is tightly crafted, well acted, and beautifully executed. Everything is explained nicely and nothing left to confuse the viewer. What is truly refreshing is the use of actual older actors playing the characters at later ages. No latex for a change!

Word of warning: If you order this used, be sure the version you are getting is produced by Anchor Bay Entertainment. It’s wide-screen and contains the trailer as an additional feature. There is another version out there which is advertised as containing no features. This one is put out by an independent distributor, is Pan & Scan, the picture quality is dark, very grainy, and sound poor.

good movie – BAD DVD1
I am a 29 year old man who remebered this movie fondly from my childhood. So i pointed, clicked and oredered it up. I was horrified the instant the menu came up on screen and the option to start the movie was spelled wrong, it read “STRAT MOVIE”. This should give you some idea as to the level of care and attention that went into the production of this inferior product.
The picture quality was unforgivable. Usually a bad transfer doesnt bother me that much as long as I can see whats going on, but this movie transfer is pathetic. I am not kidding when I say that you are better off ordering a clean VHS copy than wasting your time and money on this DVD. It was absolutely unwatchable on my widescreen TV, I eventually had to put it in my computer to watch it as the “pixelization” was so bad … consider youself warned…..

The Philadelphia Experiment takes as its jumping-off point an incident that is now paranormal legend, the U.S. Navy’s supposed 1943 induction of an extremely powerful electromagnetic field around a destroyer in Philadelphia, causing its crew to become transparent, go insane, burst into flames, and so forth. The movie takes the tack that this was to render the ship invisible to radar, because of the war that was on. The test goes awry, however, and two of the crew leap forward in time to the filmmakers’ present tense, 1984, where a similar experiment has caused a vortex that has trapped the 1943 ship and its crew along with a small Nevada town. The key to unbollixing this sad time-fracture lies in our heroes, the two time-travelling crew members, David Herdeg (Michael Paré) and Jim Parker (Bobby Di Cicco), whose electromagnetic instability keeps drawing them painfully back to the vortex to set things straight. This is silly stuff, but it’s very fun silly stuff. One might cavil at gaps in plot logic, such as when Michael Paré seeks out the ’80s version of his partner and finds more or less a trauma patient, while subsequent action contradicts this characterization. Still, there are plenty of still-worthy special effects, creating the requisite sense of awe and wonder. And for romantic interest, there’s Nancy Allen’s ’80s girl paired with Michael Paré, affording plenty of amusing occasions for culture comparisons, most notably when Paré sees Ronald Reagan on TV, says, “Hey, I know that guy!” and refuses to believe he’s president. –Jim Gay

Look for more hilarious antics from Hogan and company. It’s another keeper!

It just never gets old.4
I have been eagerly awaiting the release of season four as I am sure many other have been. I do own all previous seasons on DVD and am thrilled with the audio/video transfer. But has anyone else noticed a weak mastering of the audio on season 4? I have to turn up my TV louder to hear it which produces that “white noise” sound in the background. Oh well, I can deal with it. Can’t wait for season 5!!!!

Purchase another season of hilarious antics, Schnell5
Another trip to Luftstalag 13, mind you still there has never been an escape from Stalag 13. Maybe, Just maybe this will be the year of the first escape!? Not if the Iron Colonel has anything to say about it.

Another hilarious season of Hogan’s Heroes. The series really began to excel at the fourth season, the show was established, and the cast had grown together.

We see some familiar guests’ appearances, Colonel X, with his elite commandos appears, who outranks Hogan. Many funny episodes from the crew at Stalag 13, and Schultz is fantastic. As stated earlier extras are lacking, but at least we have a reasonable release time. So hurry and add this season to your collection and hope it holds you over until the fifth season is released.

Amazon.com
Probably the most successful bad idea in television history, Hogan’s Heroes took an appalling premise–the suffering of World War II prisoners-of-war played for laughs–and turned it into a hugely popular series that ran for six seasons. Wily Colonel Hogan (Bob Crane, previously a regular on The Donna Reed Show) and his merry multicultural band of P.O.W.s–including cocky cockney Newkirk (Richard Dawson, pre-Family Feud), softhearted Frenchman LeBeau (Robert Clary, later to appear on Days of Our Lives), clumsy explosives expert Carter (Larry Hovis), and steadfast radio operator Kinch (Ivan Dixon), one of the first black characters on television to be treated as an equal by his peers without any self-congratulatory comment–carried out spying and sabotage against the Third Reich, always back in the cozy confines of Stalag 13 by the end of the episode. But the good guys were not the show’s real draw; Hogan (charming to some, smarmy to others) may have been the titular hero, but audiences loved high-strung Nazi commandant Col. Klink (Werner Klemperer, who won two Emmys for the role) and the adorably bumbling Sgt. Schultz (John Banner), whose cries of “I see nozzink, I know nozzink!” became the show’s biggest catchphrase.

The fourth season finds the snappy one-liners, preposterous plots, oversexed atmosphere, and Nazi buffoonery all firmly entrenched. Brief bits of suspense help to balance the clownish antics. The missions change a little from episode to episode (instead of a bridge, they have to blow up an ammo dump; instead of a beautiful lady spy, they have to help…no, it’s always a beautiful lady spy), but a reassuring sameness is what guarantees the success of any sitcom. It’s interesting to speculate about why audiences embraced these goofball Nazis only a couple of decades after the revelation of the decidedly unfunny concentration camps. Perhaps, as the Cold War wore on and the threat of atomic annihilation felt increasingly likely, mocking the previous threat to the world made the Soviet Union less terrifying; or maybe Klink and Schultz are hapless 1950s parent figures, outwitted by their more worldly hipster children. Regardless, even contemporary viewers with a taste for daffy pranks may find Hogan’s Heroes a bit of sweet comfort food. –Bret Fetzer

The three products in the CLENZIderm M.D.TM Acne Therapeutic Systems are specially formulated to work together.

Obagi works well5
Got this for my wife. It does a great job against Acne. Initially, it’ll dry out your skin and you’ll need to stay out of the sun. She reduced the interval a bit due to the dryness. She seems to spend about 20 minutes each wash with this product, which is more than other products. If you stick with it, you older skin will shed off and new better looking skin will emerge. Please don’t ask your husband to check out how smooth your skin is everyday.

grrreat4
I’m in my late 20’s and suffer adult acne after I stopped taking oral birthcontrol. This is the only acne treatment kit that worked for me and my skin is not that sensitive. I tried the Murad kit and it SCARRED my face with zits (made it worse). Obagi cleared my face so much that I rarely get breakouts and when I do get them, they are not the same anymore, they’re not cystic and heals really really fast. I alternate it with a milder, drugstore wash and gylcolic acid serum because it will really dry out your face if used everyday. I only use it once a day, every other day. I left one star for the price.

Best Product Ever Tried5
I’ve suffered from acne since my teens, and upon turning 40, wondered “how can I still be dealing with acne at this age??” Over the years, I’ve tried everything from over-the-counter products to Retin-A, Differin, etc. Retin-A caused my face to peel, and some of the other products bleached my face. Pro-Active worked okay for a while, but my cheeks were still rough with under-the-skin pimples. I started to wonder whether I had rosacea instead of acne and tried prescriptions for that too! Finally, I decided to scour the internet and find something new to try, regardless of the cost.

Thats when I found the Obagi system. The products received good reviews, so I decided to give them a try. I used the products twice daily at first. I have super-oily skin, so I did not experience the dryness some of the other reviewers experienced. I saw results within the first week! After a month or so, I started using the products once a day, alternating with an antibacterial soap in the evening. Six months later, my skin was clear, and my cheeks were smooth for the first time in 20 years!

Last week, my mother commented: “I can’t believe how great your skin looks!” Honesty, I can’t believe it either! This system worked for me when nothing else did.

Typical Lewis, almost his best.4
A typical Jerry Lewis movie. As with most of his, if you don’t like Lewis you won’t like the movie, but also as with most of his films, it’s packed with funny comedy that’s mostly timeless and often imitated.
The cast includes Brian Donlevy (Cowboy, The Quatermass Experiment, Beau Geste, etc.), Howard McNear (Floyd the barber on The Andy Griffith Show), and Joe Besser (The Three Stooges, The Abbott & Costello Show).
The plot’s not; just a flimsy frame for Jerry’s shenanigans, of which there’s enough to fill 90 minutes with laughs, plus a couple cute scenes with puppets. Jerry’s hired ostensibly as an errand boy for a movie studio, but actually to spy for the upper management. He get’s into plenty of slapstick trouble on the job but never accomplishes any spying.
But the comedy is not all slapstick by any means; much of it is poking fun at movie directors and supervisors, and other screwball comedy. One of my favorite bits is when three kids are ordering candy where Jerry’s filling in at the studio cafeteria, and they send him up the same high ladder 3 times for different orders from the same giant glass jar of jelly beans. There’s also a great basketball scene with the Dover Basketeers. But wait, there’s more, including a cameo appearance by the Cartwrights of Bonanza, Lorne Greene, Michael Landon, Pernell Roberts, and Dan Blocker.
My favorite Jerry Lewis movies are “The Delicate Delinquent,” “Way… Way Out,” (which doesn’t seem to be available anywhere) and of course “The Nutty Professor” (nothing against Eddy Murphy, but he’s no Jerry Lewis). I think The Errand Boy is almost as good as these.

Brilliant Mime Does His Thing4
Flawed but generally successful combination of pathos and 1930s slapstick: the most insecure guy on the planet is put in charge of internal security for a (wanna-be) major motion picture company. Jerry provides some of the funniest moments ever captured on film, as he stumbles from one department to the next, first an as an “extra”, then as a mailroom delivery person. His attempts to find a quiet spot for lunch are worth the price of admission. But perhaps the best scene is the quietest: he finds himself in the prop department with a miniature clown who “comes to life” – it’s a beautifully acted and effectively lit scene. However, there are are numerous elaborate sequences which prove fruitless, and the movie is overlong by about 15 minutes. And the character’s ultimate “discovery” by the creative powers-that-be is bizarre in light of the fact that his presence has been unintentionally recorded on celluloid from day one. Despite the lost opportunities, TEB remains on a level with “The Nutty Professor” – a very entertaining and thoughtful effort.

Some of his best5
I rank this #3 in my choice of favorites from him. The Count Basie music in his conference room bit is worth it alone. I see familiar faces in the movie including the guy who sold tribbels in Star Trek. Buy it. You won’t regret it. It’s a good spoof on how movies are made and some good b/w footage of early hollywood.

AH, SPENDING A COZY AFTERNOON WATCHING DANIELLE STEEL MOVIES!!!5
This collection of movies from Danielle Steel is quite a treat, including the movie The Promise starring, Stephen Collins bka “Dan Broderick” from the famous A Woman Scorned, and a very young and stunning Kathleen Quinlan.

PALOMINO: After seeing this one I wanted to inherit a ranch and fall in love with a handsome farm hand!!!

Secrets: Reminds me of the days when prime-time soaps ruled! I truly enjoyed the fantastic ensemble cast, which includes a very handsome Christopher Plummer! That man has aged so well!!!

Star: Eventhough this love-triangle roots for the main character played by Jennie Garth, I really liked and felt sorry for the second choice wife, played by the very beautiful Terry Farrell. I remember her from the tv movie and short-lived series Paper Dolls.

The Promise: This is a bonus movie included that’s well worth watching, about a young couple very much in love, but a horrible accident tempts their fate.

This dvd set is a must for any Danielle Steel fan or if you just enjoy watching great tv movies minus the long commercials. I rarely watch Lifetime network anymore because their commericals are so long (5 minutes or more, I counted). I’d rather buy the movies on dvd! I just wish some other classic tv movies would get released on dvd in the US like Lace, starring Phoebe Cates, Deceptions, starring Stefanie Powers, and Mistral’s Daughter!!!

Review of The Palomino4
The “palomino” is actually the flax-tressed Lindsay Frost as a recently divorced photojournalist who sets her sights on a hunky horseman played by Lee Horsley. More flannel-tearing than bodice-ripping, the bosoms still heave as shutterbug and cowboy begin a hot-n-heavy affair among the Quarterhorses and haybales. Tragedy strikes and the suds lather, but Palomino is a well-done weepie for romantics who also like horses. There’s a nice subplot involving therapeutic riding for disabled children. Based on a novel by Danielle Steele.

Technics SL-1210M5G TurnTable

Technics supplements its Turntable 12 series with yet another model with “Legend Potential”. With features like switchable pitch control ( + – 8% / + – 16%) & Brake speed control is in the best way to present the SL1210M5G for individual Styles of DJs. The Technics Turntable is thereby not only a first-class implement, but with its black high polish lacquer finish & blue lighting also a genuine Eyecatcher for each DJ platform.

Bravo Technics !5
Other than the Gold Ltd. Edition Technics turntable, this is the one to make any dj the envy of the block. Expanded pitch adjustable features, braking adjustment settings, and long lasting led illuminator lights and increased anti-skating make this absolutely a spectacular analog machine/ dj instrument. Quality build is superb and built to outlast anything out there in the competitive market… The ONLY minor mistake not used in really completing the whole package is a lack of a key adjust control. Basically, with a key adjust you can speed up or slow down the beats or the music without vocalists sounding like chipmunks, or Barry White speaking in slow motion ! Key adjust just changes the speed of the music and vocals, not the pitch or tune…This is just a small bonus feature that would have been nice to have; Denon and another company name have already done this for their brand of DJ turntables…

Grand Master amazes5
The Flagship of the Technics Turntables, the SL1210M5G is the 30th Anniversary edition of the legendary SL1200 line. This fully manual unit has been going strong since the ’70’s and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. The deck was originally built as a high end home audio component, but has become honored by most club DJ’s because of it’s rugged build and many DJ enhancements over the years.

I selected this version for my home turntable because of the oxygen free wiring and other tone arm improvements and high quality phono cables. After many inconsistent speed issues with belt drive turntables, I am pleased with the very durable and ultra quiet brushless DC motor that powers the Technics units.

This turntable is ready to go for home enthusiasts or DJ’s. It comes complete with a rubber platter mat, a slip mat, a head shell, cartridge alignment tool and a non attached dust cover. If needed, a hinge kit is available from KAB USA. All that’s needed is a phono cartridge. There are many to choose from, either hi-fi or DJ.

After a few weeks of revisiting my 40+ years of vinyl, I can agree that this deck deserves the title of Grand Master.

A masterpeice!5
I have owned turntables costing several thousand dollars in the past. They are getting older now and I thought new one in the reasonable price range but high quality. I put in my Shure V15xMR in the arm tracking at 1g. Perfect tracking – super low rumble and no hum at all with or wo grounding. The construction is first class. This is a super bargain – it has been improved over the years. Yes you can spend a lot more – this product delivers in all the important ways. For many it is not expensive enough and has low snob appeal. If a small company were to make this turntable – my guess it would cost around > 1500.00. Panasonic has been making it for over 30 years now! Rarely does a product remain available for such a long time. The reason – this is a masterpeice!
